Individual Therapy

Adolescent Sports Psychotherapy

Adolescent Sports Psychotherapy

Individual therapy provides a confidential and supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and patterns that influence overall well-being and performance. The process is collaborative and tailored to each person’s goals, values, and lived experience. Through this work, individuals can build insight, identify strengths, and develop new ways of navigating challenges both in and outside of performance settings.

This approach integrates a holistic and performance-informed perspective, recognizing the connection between emotional well-being, nervous system regulation, and sustainable performance. Grounded in authenticity, attunement, and collaboration, the focus is on understanding the internal and external factors that shape how individuals perform, connect, and recover.

There is no single approach that fits everyone. Each person’s nervous system, motivation, and neurotype are unique. This work honors neurodiversity and the many ways brains process, learn, and respond to the world. Curiosity, feedback, and reflection guide the process, emphasizing genuine human connection and a shared commitment to self-awareness, adaptability, and resilience.

Clients are regarded as the experts of their own experience. Therapy becomes a process of strengthening self-trust, learning to work with the nervous system, and cultivating the flexibility needed to perform, create, and relate with greater ease and authenticity.

This approach is guided by a belief in integration rather than pathology. Each aspect of self—emotional, cognitive, and physiological—is explored with compassion and curiosity, acknowledging that all parts serve an adaptive purpose. This process supports deeper understanding of the inner world and how it can align with well-being and performance in a way that respects each individual’s wiring.

Adolescent Sports Psychotherapy

Adolescent Sports Psychotherapy

Adolescent Sports Psychotherapy

Adolescent sport psychotherapy provides a supportive and developmentally informed space for young athletes to explore the emotional, cognitive, and relational factors that influence both performance and overall well-being. Sessions are individualized to help adolescents identify their goals, values, and areas of growth while fostering self-awareness and confidence both in and outside of sport.

This process integrates a developmental framework, recognizing that adolescence is a time of identity formation, emotional regulation, and increased social and performance pressures. Through guided exploration, we build on existing strengths and coping skills while introducing new strategies to support balance, focus, and resilience.

When appropriate, Brainspotting may be incorporated to help address anxiety, stress, performance blocks, or past experiences that influence current functioning. The approach is grounded in attunement and safety, allowing for self-discovery and integration at a pace that fits each adolescent’s readiness.

As clinically indicated, collaboration may include consultation with coaches, trainers, or other professionals involved in the athlete’s support system. Family therapy sessions may also be offered to strengthen communication, understanding, and alignment around the adolescent’s goals and well-being.

Consultations

Workshops and Seminars

Workshops and Seminars

Performance consultations are designed for coaches, trainers, parents of athletes, and others who play a key role in an athlete’s development and support system. These meetings provide a collaborative space to explore communication, motivation, and relationship dynamics that influence performance and overall well-being.

A consultation may also offer an opportunity to strengthen the mental skills of an athlete, coach, or parent of an athlete in ways that can enhance performance—without engaging in a formal therapy relationship. This distinction ensures the focus remains on education, applied psychological principles, and performance strategies rather than psychotherapy or clinical treatment.

The work emphasizes developing constructive and attuned approaches that support individual and team needs. Attention is given to fostering environments that encourage growth, confidence, and cohesion while respecting the unique characteristics and goals of each athlete or team.

Consultations may include observation of practices or competitions, followed by discussion and feedback highlighting patterns, strengths, and potential areas for adjustment. Recommendations are tailored to the goals identified by the coach, parent, or organization and are informed by principles of sport psychology, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Workshops and Seminars

Workshops and Seminars

Workshops and Seminars

Workshops and seminars are designed to provide education and practical strategies that support the mental and emotional aspects of performance for athletes, coaches, trainers, and professionals who work with athletes. These offerings are focused on skill development, self-awareness, and the application of psychological principles that enhance performance and well-being—without constituting psychotherapy.

Programs for athletes and coaches may explore topics such as goal setting, pre-competition routines, imagery and visualization, confidence building, focus, and team cohesion. Each presentation is tailored to the needs and developmental stage of the participants, emphasizing applied skills that can be integrated into training and competition.

Workshops for professionals who support athletes may include information about the relationship between mental health and performance, recognizing when an athlete may benefit from additional support, understanding the impact of injury on mental health, and identifying appropriate referral pathways for clinical services
